In conjunction of Ajx 16th bday which officiated on Thurs Aug 21 @ Herit@ge Mansi0n, coincided with p1ccad nite, there was also a plan for a weekend getaway to Melaka but the bday boy had to work during the weekend. So I ended up going for a post-posa getaway with yus, ila and maman.
Coincidently, I just got reunited with Marlin, who was staying in Melaka and persistently requested that we bunk at her place. Not only we got a place to stay, Hedra designated Marlin to be our tour guide for throughout our stay! It’s been about 10 years since I saw them both, ever since I left Perth. Both still the same, cool dude and hot mama. They had Alwats then, now there’s Maya and Qalila too.
We shoot off about 11ish and reached Melaka 3ish. Had an hour chill before we head out to Jonker. It was drizzling on and off but it didn’t stop us from getting through the street. I get to try some interesting dishes i.e mochi - glutinous flour coated with crunched nuts and sugar, sugar coated mix fruits, steamed potato kuih and the cendol and fried cempedak were yummy too. We had dinner at Portugese Settlement. Seems it’s normal to be harassed by the food operators there unless you tell them you know which stall you’re gonna dine at. A very annoying experience I must say. We chose Sea Terrace, based on crowd and it was a satisfying choice indeed. We had black pepper crab, ikan jenak sweet and sour, mix veggie, flour coated squid, fried rice, fruit juice… (did I miss another dish??) all for RM120 for 5 pax! Cheap Cheap!
Next, we went to this new complex called The Jetty. It’s a mall built across Sg Melaka. It’s longish in structure and it was surprising when we needed to take a buggy to get to Gogo kbox, situated way at the end of The Jetty. The room rate was dang cheap too. VVIP room >16pax is only RM33 per hour! Never can you get such rate in KL. Look and feel of the place is somewhat like Redb0x Curve and songs selection is not as good as Pavili0n. We’re ok with that but they sped up the tempo of the songs so imagine our exhaustion singing the fast numbers. People don’t go there just to k’ok because they also have 2 level of terrace or balcony for gad. Cool coz in a way, you’re chilling in the middle of the Straits. We were very entertained with Hedra’s performance during ‘Asam Garam’ song. Soooo cool and dang hilarious!
Although it’s way pass CEO bedtime, we had a late nite soree at a mamak and headed back 4am! By this time, CEO couldn’t withstand his own head and was turning red of exhaustion! The night, or more likely wee morning, ends about 530am after a good shower and short chats.
Sunday was simply a lazy day. We stayed in until about 6pm before we head to Jonker again for foot reflex and dinner. It rained badly while we were having massage, so was stranded on Jonker for a while and reached home at 1am.
Next time, we’ll have a bbq by the pool at Marlin’s and horse riding at the stable just behind her place.
Thanx Marlin and Hedra for great hospitality and fb for getting us back connected again :-D
